I have watched this girl grow up! Nora is a Serra Catholic High School senior and the first time I met her was actually while I was taking her big sister’s senior photos and she tagged along to help! I’ll never forget that day – she was just knee high to a grasshopper but was so eager to hold my reflector and make her sister laugh for pictures! It’s a huge honor to get to do photos for multiple siblings in the same family and be trusted with all of those memories! Since it was Nora’s turn this time, I picked out one of my favorite spots where the spring flowers in bloom.
The past few years have really made for a strange experience for high school students with shut downs, virtual school, canceling of all their milestones like prom, college visits, driver’s tests, sports, clubs, and time with friends. It makes me feel good to know that a great senior session is one thing that I can make sure they get to enjoy and be able to look back on this time in their lives!
There is no wrong time for senior photos! Nora’s session was at the end of May and she graduated just a few weeks later! You can even do your photos after graduation day! For me, it’s not just about getting portraits to use for announcements or grad party invites, it’s about documenting the time in between who you’ve been for all of high school and who you will become before whatever happens next. I think as an adult, the further we get from high school the harder it is to remember things about our experience and who we were as people during those years. Photos give us a little window through time to remember.
