What happens when it rains and an ass shows up at your wedding ? You have the best day EVER and put all of it in the wedding photos !! Olivia and Shane were married at Armstrong Farms Westminster Preserve on a cool cloudy day – which is AMAZING in August! It rained off and on but it didn’t bother us one bit – we had fun with umbrellas and snuck out after dinner for photos with dramatic clouds. Even Carrots the donkey got in on the action trying to snuggle with Shane during portraits.
Armstrong Farms Westminster Preserve is a unique venue experience because your wedding day is not just one day, but a three day celebration! Rehearsals typically take place on friday evening and you’re welcome to host your rehearsal dinner right on site at the barn. The farm house comes with it’s own kitchen or you can have it catered. I’ve even seen a few people cook out on the grill or over the fire! Saturday is the big day for weddings and then you can take your time and wake up to brunch on sunday and clean up and head home without rushing.
There are several farmyard creatures that call westminster preserve their home! From Stella the goose (probably the MOST famous), to her friend Mopsey, Carrots the donkey and the cows out in the pasture. It’s always a treat when one of them poses for a photo op!
Also shout out to my vet team who i love with all my heart. Olivia is not just a client and a friend but we met because she takes care of Scout and Ranger at East Suburban Animal Hospital! We need another dance floor with all of you ladies – love and thanks to Olivia, Erin, Kaitlyn and Alexa who are all Scout and Ranger’s unofficial “aunties” – I love you like family.
The last shot of the night under the wisteria arbor. During cocktail hour, this is where the bar is located under the shade of the leaves. Once night falls and the party moves up into the barn for dancing, the bar relocates onto the back deck and the lights come making this the most romantic spot for a private moment or a slow dance. In early summer, these vines explode with bunches of light purple flowers and hang down like a curtain on the lawn.
